Understanding My World can be a little tricky even for me.
I shall try and explain what I mean.
I like to plan things in advance and do have an excellent diary planner to help me with this. However, outside influences tend to get in the way of a perfect plan. That means re-evaluating each day, week or month. Normally not a real problem but with the Covid-19 situation it is a real challenge.
Gaining an understanding of my world in real terms is simple as I write it but in reality it is quite complicated at the moment.
Firstly I need to try and keep visitors to the studio safe. So hand gels, good soap, single use paper towels, aprons and gloves are all available. And have always been but now with larger quantities. Having to remind customers to use them gets very tedious but has to be done according to my insurance company.
The next thing is to reduce the numbers attending workshops. This raises difficulties with fully booked workshops as when I email the attendees I do not want to disappoint anyone and a decision has to be made. Do we cancel? Do we split it into two workshops? or do we offer full refund to anyone coming from another area which may or may not increase the risk of spreading the virus. This is one of the tricky problems that needs to be solved.
The most amazing thing about my world is the support I have from family, friends and support groups. Most people I meet want me to succeed in my work. The studio is a happy creative space that has a positive vibe. Everyone who visits no matter in what capacity is friendly and wants to support others in the room.
Most of the feedback from others about my own art is pretty positive. Even if they do not understand it.
My little shop is doing well now that the Emporium is open again. New stock is arriving daily so it will soon be full. The challenge of getting the stock in at the moment is suppliers working short staffed. Couriers working long hours trying to get our packages out to us and of course how it can be delivered safely. This means we have to be patient for delivery can be a little slower than we want.
My world has been very up and down with the small holding. Our visiting fox has returned and is taking our girls again. Even one of our cockerels had a close call. I think it is a case of watching and waiting to catch it. On a much happier note we have hatched two ducks and have chicken eggs in the incubator so fingers crossed.
The outside space will be used for workshops more and more now. We will be erecting covered areas to work in as year progresses. Some temporary and maybe one or two more permanent.
On the whole my world is looking fabulous and no matter what is happening in the wider world I will keep on sewing and creating.
