Eau Brink Studio Today

Eau Brink Studio today is a very different story from when we started our little enterprise.

Art Studio Kings LynnAt the beginning we were open for classes taught by other tutors with a varied workshop list.  I had plenty of time to spend making items and practising my own art and skills.

The studio was relatively tidy most of the time and the fabrics were all kept in lovely neat spaces.

As we progressed and time marched on I found that I was teaching more and more and we were attracting tutors from further afield.  This meant less time for me to work on my own practice and the studio was more often in a mess.

Today we are established as a studio for textile art and crafts. Many other tutors return yearly to teach from afar and new tutors are being introduced regularly too.

I have managed to claw back time to spend in the studio on my own work by creating a new group which I can be me and work on improving my own skills. It is a lovely group which we are keeping small so that we can all help and encourage each other to move our work on.

The studio still has days where it is a mess but mostly now it remains relatively tidy. Though at the time of writing this there is fabric everywhere.

So whats new?

Kits are new. Lots of them too. Many are aimed at beginners to textiles from making cushions to panels for a quilt. Some are still in the development stage and others are ready to packaging.

These kits will be added to the website shop and well as being sold in the physical shop at Long Sutton.

Next Years Programme

Next years programme is almost completed and is very exciting. In the next few days the calendar will be updated and the new workshops will be added.

Included are our regular tutors and some new ones such as Alex Waylett as well as Jenny O’leary.  All being well we will be able to have a big workshop each month along side our normal workshops.

Talking of normal workshops we are going to be expanding those too with a little help of one or two local tutors.

Exhibitions

Next years exhibitions are also in place now and we are looking forward to attending the Makers festival in Norwich in February, The NEC in March, Open Studios, Brancaster in August and Granchester. With a little bit of luck these will all go ahead.

Terms and Conditions

Our terms and conditions have been updated and now are added to the intake forms when booking. Once you have read them and ticked the agreed box your booking can continue. These include the Covid-19 and consent to photography too.

Eau Brink Times

Eau Brink  Times can report that Eau Brink Studio is now fully open again. We really kicked off this weekend with a two day workshop with Alison Hulme.

An amazing two days of printing using Acrylic paints, Fabric medium and Brusho.

Everyone worked hard in the heat to create fabulous fabrics for later use. Luckily the ice creams arrived just on the second day just as we all needed a little pick me up.

Day one

Of this fantastic workshop at Eau Brink started with Alison discussing her technique for transferring colour and pattern onto fabric. This followed with a demonstration and advice on how to use the paints.

Throughout the day Alison kept us informed going with a number of instructions, and demonstrations along with a few anecdotes about her life and friends which had us laughing.

By the end of the first day we were all tired but very happy with our results.

Day two

Started with a bit of drama as the gazebo blew away in the wind but we still managed to get so much done with moving the outside tables into the shade as best we could.

Some of us made fabulous pinnies with the help of Alison of course but others preferred to buy a pinny and just print mountains of fabric for future use.

Many times throughout the the two days Alison made us laugh and it was a welcome change from all the sadness  that we have all had to contend with recently.

To see more of our pictures pop over to our facebook page and see what we truly got up to.

It is lovely to see the studio full of life again after so long of it being quiet and unused.

Small Holding News

Of course Eau Brink Times also covers the small holding news as I know many of want to keep up with whats happening to the wild life.

As many of you know we had to separate one of our female ducks from the others as she was in a terrible state due to an over amorous male. Not her mate either.

I can now report she is fully recovered with the exception of a few of her wing feathers which are growing back. She is very happy with her true mate in their new enclosure where she cannot be got at. Much to the other males disgust.

We have not had a visit from the fox for a week or two now so with a bit of luck it has given up or moved on.

The chickens are doing well and we have one who will not go into any of the houses for the night she roosts in the trees near the BBQ.

The sheep do not like this weather at all it is far too hot for them. So they spend a great deal of time under the trees keeping cool and running into the rain when it comes.

Mind you it does not stop them eating. The fruit trees are getting a bashing as they want the fruits to drop.

The bees are not doing so well with this constant weather change.

But they do have enough honey for themselves and we will of course let them keep it. However, I have explained to them it would be nice if they could just produce a little more to share with the humans.
