Hello my name  is Melanie Missin Keating.  I am A textile Artist and Tutor. I have been sewing and crafting for over 40 years. I have the most amazing Mum to thank for this. Paula Tapson, a truely inspirational artist in many things.

In the last 10 years I have been making patchwork quilts. I have now moved more into textile art. All the techniques I have learned so far are being used in all sorts of my creations and designs. I am still learning and will continue, I am sure, until I can no longer sew.

Currently I am attending a City and Guilds course ‘Design and Craft/Patchwork and Quilting’. This is a two year course. I am hoping to go on to do a Diploma which will be for a further three years. My tutor is the wonderful Mary Mcintosh, who has really helped me to improve my skills and love for textile Art. I have also been fortunate to attend some of Yvonne Browns’ workshops which so inspired me to create something totally different but, most importantly, she gave me the confidence to say ‘I can do it’.

I run regular classes and workshops from home. I also teach at a few sewing shops and sewing groups. I visit local and national groups such as the WI and give a talk on ‘My Journey with Quilts to Infinity and Beyond!’

I was the Chairman and founder member of The Elysian Quilters in Ely.

I am very fortunate that my hobby is my job and through it I have met and continue to meet some amazing, kind and talented people who are so generous with their knowledge and stash!

I hope I inspire you in the same way as other people have inspired me.

Sit, Sew and Create.
