It Is Hot at Eau Brink Studio today in more ways than one. With a little help from the West Norfolk Embroiderers Guild and Jenny Leslie we steamed a load of leaves. Luckily we had the air-con on to cool us down.

Following an introduction from Jenny and a bit of health and safety, Jenny demonstrated how to use a solution of water and vinegar with an mordant to bring out the prints from our leaves.

We sprayed the fabric and papers and after dunking the leaves into rusty water we placed them onto the fabric and rolled it tightly onto tubing and tied it.

Then into a steamer for an hour or so to get it to cure. The results were pretty amazing in many ways.

We used many leaves from our gardens as well as flowers to see what results we will get.

We also added iron in the way of wire wool to bring out a darker colour to our prints.

The results are not always what you expect them to be which makes it more exciting and worth the wait. As you can see from this one I just took out of the steamer. Very please with it, even though it is a little uniform for me.

Now I need to stitch into it of course as it needs a little Anita enhancement.

The day was long but we all took something home that is usable and many took home a new skill.

Just to say a big thank you to our members for the help with the organisation of the workshop and the clearing up afterwards. The studio is looking very tidy tonight.

The next time we all get together will be for out exhibition at St Nicholas Chapel in Kings Lynn on July 13th and 14th. Open to the public from 10 am till 4 pm.  We are having stalls so you can get a little shopping in, make and take, and of course refreshments.

Pauline introduced us to a new book for Bernina machines explaining all the feet and tricks to make us more successful when using them. My lovely sister has ordered me a copy.
