It is Exhibition Time at Eau Brink Studio, which means that I have work in many places for you to see.

Firstly at The West Norfolk Embroiderers Guild Exhibition in St Nicholas Chapel over the Weekend of the 13th and 14th. We has so many visitors that we worried we would run out of cake but the lades did us proud and kept everyone topped up with tea and cake.

The exhibition was a resounding success, with many visitors and fabulous comments from all. The committee worked hard to make sure that everyone how submitted work had it all displayed.  The stall holders encouraged all visitors to look at the exhibits and vote on their favourite.

The next Exhibition is in September at Wymondham and current works are already being prepared for that one.

Whats Next?

I have been making cushions for my home and now will be working on cushions to add to my shop with Christmas themes just for fun. More on those in coming blogs.

Experimental Wednesdays

Experimental Wednesdays will become a new group for the first Wednesday of each month called Experimental Textiles. The aim is to get it set up for the first Wednesday in September. Current Experimental Wednesday customers have asked for this for some time now and it has taken me a while to get it sorted out. We will have to restrict numbers so that there is plenty of space to work in.  I will continue with another Experimental Wednesday on the 3rd week of each month for those who do not wish to belong to the new group.

The aim of Experimental Textiles is to push boundaries with our work and to be part of the exhibition during Makers Month in February each year. We will also be organising fringe events during February at Eau Brink Studio. Also we will run an exhibition during the Open Studios in June each year. During which we will run workshops and demonstrations for visitors.

Do not be thinking it will all be ultra modern work as we can also push traditional works by using modern colours and fabrics as well as threads. Such as a piece called Blue Bird by a lady called Katherine which uses strands of blue threads stitched in Blackwork pattern and a 3D wing which is needle woven.

New Equipment

The studio is currently being moved around to accommodate a new super large printer for group members to use for larger pieces such as wall hangings and quilts if they wish.

This printer will also be made available to other groups and individuals from September 2019.

And just because I can

Our new cockerel is producing little babies just like this one who is two days old.

April 9, 2019

Spring Madness has hit Eau Brink Studio with a flurry of work and new life.

First we have hatched some lovely ducklings. Eight in total. Then two new chicks arrived. And so far two lambs. The Moorhens are nesting and we have a young couple of wild ducks arrive. Luckily our domestic ducks have welcomed them. Even to the point of showing them where we feed our fowl.

We have had lots of fun with the children in the schools making Easter eggs and wands.

The West Norfolk Embroiderers Guild have been to the studio with Anna Shore making hand stitched medallions.

I have been stitching away making items for exhibitions which I hope will fit the criteria of each one so they get accepted.

I am also planning the workshops for 2020 at Eau Brink Studio. I will inform you each time we add to the calendar.

So where are we with this year?

Cas Holmes will be here this weekend for the two day canvas workshop starting on Saturday. Due to cancellations we do still have two spaces on this workshop. https://www.eaubrinkstudio.co.uk/event/two-days-with-cas-holmes/

In May Pauline Wrighton will be with us teaching us what the different feet are for on our sewing machines and what we can achieve with using them. This workshop is now half full and has been sent out to the local WI’s and is about to be advertised on the local council websites. So if you are thinking of booking do so without delay. https://www.eaubrinkstudio.co.uk/event/finding-your-feet-with-pauline-wrighton/

Again this is about to be put on the council websites as well as sent to the WI’s so do book if your thinking about it. https://www.eaubrinkstudio.co.uk/event/revamp-a-lamp/2019-06-01/

Then we have the fabulous Alison Hulme for two days getting us to print print print. you can also make a pinny or bag on day two with your printed fabrics. This workshop only has one space left.

September brings Amanda Hislop to Eau Brink Studio for two days and already spaces are getting booked up so do not delay if this is one you fancy.

Of course we do have our regular Experimental Wednesdays, Creative Powertex days and one or two other workshops thrown into the mix.

For Hire

The studio is also available for you to hire for your own workshops to teach just send me an email if your interested for a quote.

Parties are great fun for all and we have a great variety of crafts for them. From one hour parties to all day. Get in touch and we can discuss what you would like to do.

Will the Spring Madness continue? yes it will as we have one more sheep to lamb yet and more items to sew.

March 23, 2019

Eau Brink Studio is taking part in the Powertex Open Studios this weekend . We are open from 10 o’clock till 4 o’clock. Why not come along and learn what you can create with this fabulous fabric hardening medium?

You can bring along a chipped ornament, bowl or garden ornament and we can look at how we can enhance and repair it for a small sum of just £10.00.

Children can make wands or dragon Easter eggs. All you need is two hours and you can go home with a finished item.

The ladies at the Walpole Arts and Crafts Club enjoyed making these plaques on Friday Morning. To see more pictures just pop over to the Eau Brink Instagram or Facebook page.

The school children this week enjoyed making pictures using foils from little kits. Fairies and wizards were the most popular. Then we made cards and envelops for family and friends. Not so messy this week. I will put that right next week though.

Whats new for me?

I am going to make jelly roll rugs. A small one to start with just to get a feel for it. I think also I can make bowls using the same method but a little tighter. watch this space for an update on that one.

The Handmade Festival with Kirstie Allsopp  tickets are now available and you can get a discount by using this code at the checkout… SHOP. I would love to see you there on the 13TH – 15TH SEPTEMBER HAMPTON COURT. It is going to be bigger and better this year with new sellers and demonstrators.

I will be running a raffle for a Jelly Roll rug during this event. £1.00 a ticket going on sale soon.

May 4, 2018

What a week I have had at Eau brink Studio.

It all started on Monday with an email from the team at The Handmade Fair which is next weekend. Many emails and phone calls later I think I am ready.

New Fairs
Exciting New Ground

I had originally planned to travel on the Friday morning and set up on arrival. But the email I received instructed me I had to be there on the Thursday evening. Panic then.   Luckily I could add a night to the hotel but it means I have lost a days preparation. So I cancelled everything else except the experimental Wednesday and the after school art club. Which means I have been using the time to catch up.

I am now at the stage of making sure I have everything and will be planning on Monday our staging. Whew.

Experimental Wednesday was great fun with us all working on something different. One person using the Lamination technique for transferring pictures to fabric. She then had a go at Shibori dying fabrics too. Another got to grips with free motion machine embroidery for the first time. whilst another lady practiced her free motion machining too.

That just left one other who was working on a piece for the Kings Lynn Embroiderers Guild exhibition and I worked on finishing making up peg bags whilst helping the others when they needed me.

Amanda Hislop weekend
Layers of papers ready for stitch

John popped in to do the PAT testing for those who bought items. Well that’s what he said as we were having tea and cake.

The children at the school enjoyed an hour of playing with Xpandaprint by using it with paints on door hangers. They were fascinated when it puffed up.

What’s happening this month?

Well beside the Kirstie Allsopp Handmade Fair on the 11th to the 13 at Ragley Hall it is also Textiles In Action at Thornham on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27 which is the first weekend of the Open Studios.

Textiles of all sorts
Great Exhibition

Open Studios is from the 26th May to the 10th June. there are lots of artists participating and if you need a booklet they are everywhere. If anywhere has run out just let me know. I have plenty more to give out.
