New at Eau Brink Studio

This Month I will be launching a  whole new set of kits.
Luxury Christmas stocking
Modern print stocking

What does this mean in real time? I am looking at packaging, writing instructions and searching out fabrics.

I am hopeful this will all be in place by the end of September. so no pressure then???

So far I have looked at the Christmas stockings,  three different types of baubles, and the coin purse. I still have to look at whether it will be a good idea to include the cushions, scissor holders and other items I make using the jelly rolls of fabric.

Powertex

I am also looking into kits for Powertex. Starter kits mainly with the products you need to just get going or even smaller kits for you to have a go with it and see if it is for you.

I am sure once tried you will find a place in your crafting for it.

why am I looking at this?

Several of our customers ask me for kits or suggest me making kits to sell rather than the finished items. I have made the odd few for shows and fairs but at the Handmade Fair this time I had many many people asking for kits to give away as gifts or to have a go at making themselves. This has made me think that perhaps the time is right for them.

We will see.

Whats New?

Peggy Bonner is coming to Eau Brink Studio to teach beading techniques. Starting in October for a basic workshop to get you in the mood.

The day starts at 10 am and will finish about 2 pm.  Kits will be provided on the day and each learner will finish a small beaded decoration with a wooden cotton reel. This workshop is designed to wet the appetite so that you want to learn the more complicated designs for baubles and other items.

Beaded Decorations

Peggy is new to the area and wants to make new friends through her craft. Peggy owned a shop before her move where she taught her beading skills in regular workshops alongside running a busy shop.

I am sure that we will be able to make a number of fabulous items for our homes and as gifts with Peggy’s help.

Gathering Inspiration can be a real treat as this week can testify.

Spending a day in London with all the colours, shapes and sounds brings a huge amount of ideas. But the most inspiring came not from Kensington Palace as expected but from The Royal Opera House.

The Royal Opera house has layers of boxes, seats, lights, and sweeping curves with the gold and red. It is stunning as this link to a little video shows. https://www.facebook.com/eaubrinkstudio/videos/1973974682906696/

An evening in this place lifts the spirits no end. What did I see? The Nutcracker.

Looking at the fabrics, costumes and general bling for this lovely ballet makes me realise how hard the teams work to put on this entertainment. And that is not including the hours of practice the dancers put in. Well worth a visit.

But what about Kensington Palace? We looked at the fabulous rooms of course and the staircases. We loved the Princess Diana clothes, and the clothes from the film The Favourite which of course is about Queen Anne.

Unfortunately the rooms for Queen Victoria were closed but we did get to look at the fabulous Tiaras she wore.  I was rather taken by this suite even though my theme at the moment is red and not green.

King’s Lynn Embroiderers Guild.

Why a red theme you ask?

I am currently working on a number of items for the King’s Lynn Embroiderers Guild Exhibition in July. We will be at St Nicholas Chapel so come and take a look at what we get up to. the Exhibition theme is the rainbow so it will be colourful.

We have room for stall holders if you are interested, your stall must be textiles of some sort. Fabric based, weaving, threads, found materials, anything that can be used for textiles so that includes decoration and paints too.

Reminder.

Just to remind you that you can rent Eau Brink Studio for anything from one hour to the entire day for your projects large or small. You get to use all the facilities, cake is supplied, heating or air conditioning depending on the weather. There is a large working area. Large enough to lay out an entire quilt if needed. Wishing you a happy new year for 2019

What does that mean to you?

For me it is the end of a spectacular year of new experiences, as well as making new friends.

I have grown personally and my business has grown thanks to you guys.

I have attended many fairs, taught at groups, clubs and schools. From each of them I have learnt something ready for the next one.

The Studio

The studio workshops have been amazing with amazing learners returning again and again. I feel very lucky to be able to consider many of you as friends.

No all of the workshops have been successful due to the lack of numbers booking onto them but that does not mean that I will not try again in the new year.

I do take note of what I am asked for by everyone. Unfortunately I do need a minimum amount of learners if I am paying another artist to teach the workshop and if I cannot book enough in then it does have to be cancelled.

2019

2019 will be a year of me producing more of my own work rather than just workshops and popular items to sell. I hope that you will like it. It may be at times traditional but mainly it will be mixed media as I like to see how I can push the boundaries with products.

I am looking forward to helping the King’s Lynn Embroiderers Guild to grow so do watch out for us in King’s Lynn. If you would like to come along to our meetings we will be at Knights Hill in the pubs meeting room. On the last Wednesday of each month from 19.30. You do not have to be a great sewer as the aim of the guild is to encourage and teach.

I will be stepping down from the St Germans Ladies committee in January but will remain a member. I hope the new committee continue to grow the group as it is great.

The shop will be up and running at Long Sutton Craft Barn in Early January so do come along and see whats on offer.

I will be teaching workshops at The Silverwood Centre also in Long Sutton commencing in January. Regular workshops include Creative Stitching using your sewing machine,  Shibori style dyeing and Lampshade making. There are other items being taught at the centre so go along and take a look. I can highly recommend the tea shop. I love the bacon and brie sandwiches.

Get In touch

If you have any ideas for your development then get in touch on 01553 762115, [email protected] or just pop in and see me. Kettle is always on.

Thank you for being part of my wonderful life. Wishing everyone of you reading this a very happy new year.

There is only a Week To go till the festivities begin At Eau Brink..

What does that mean? Just 7 days to get ready for the coming year so that I can relax with my family and friends with good food and a drink or two. And it all kicks off with the burning of the yule log during the winter solstice. And that my friends means the light will be returning and the days will get longer. Hurrah!

The New year.

And what will the coming year bring? A new programme of events which include new workshops, less fairs, a new shop at Long Sutton, Experimentals first exhibition just to name a few. It will be an exciting year of creativeness.

I have a few last minute orders to complete first. If you guys want to order anything and want to save postage just come along and collect your order. I will be able to to this up to the evening of the 23rd. Then I will be closed until the new year. The website will be open as usual of course , which means you can book in for your workshops. Please note that there are new dates for the regular workshops so do check them out before calling me to ask why you can’t book. This has already happened.

From the 1st of January I will be setting up a little shop in the Craft Barn Village in Long Sutton. Where I will be putting items for sale as well as demonstrating for the coming workshops. This will help you see what is going to be happening at the workshops so you can decide if it is for you. Pop in days are also planned. There is a lovely Cafe where you can sit by the fire and slurp hot chocolate.

If you fancy coming to a workshop but do not want to travel to this side of Wisbech, I have a number of workshops planned for Silverwood.  Regular workshops include Shibori style dyeing, Lampshade making, and How to use your sewing machine for Free motion embroidery and cord making.  The tea shop is excellent too.

I hope you all have a great festive season with family and friends.

Sew what’s New at Eau Brink Studio then?

We have a small section of our goods at The Barn in Long sutton. Why not pop along and see what other goodies are there? I have planned a few workshops at The Barn which will commence in November. These will be a drop in day where you can make a brooch or jar with Powertex. Get to grips with Xpandaprint and Scolarbrush as well as  few more mixed media goodies to play with.

I am also going to be working in Silverwood  also at Long Sutton.  The plan is to run workshops commencing in November which will include dying fabrics, Patchwork for beginners, getting to know your sewing machine as well as the Powertex brooches.

Here at Eau Brink Studio I am excited to announce that Pippa Pease will be here on the 26th of November teaching a beginners Skirt Making workshop. More information will be available soon. It is hoped that we can make this into a monthly sewing group with a different project each month. The plan is that each individual will learn a new set of skills at the beginning and then add to those skills so that you can tackle any project.

I am very excited as I have managed with the help of Pauline Wrighton to at long last master book making. My books were always too loose and did not sit properly. It turned out that I was using the wrong threads. Thank you Pauline.

As many of your know I do make lampshades using Shibori techniques. Now John has been making the bases for me and I have been sewing into the bark to add decoration. The plan is to mirror the stitching on the shades so ensure they match. the challenge is to get the bark back onto to base without it looking flat and uninteresting. I am hopeful that I can iron out the problems before Wymondham in a weeks time.

We are nearly at half term already and the children in the school have been making witches and wizards. Pumpkins and stitched coasters. This week they will be making ghost decorations.  After the half term break I will be going into another school and we will be looking at making items for Autumn. I will be getting a little sewing in there.

Booking for the workshops for the next year are beginning to be booked which is great news for us all. Included in this is the Airbnb workshops. What are they I hear you cry. I have registered some days on Airbnb experiences which I means that anyone staying in the area can come and play by booking through Airbnb experiences.
